A-Rod will probably get most of the credit for the win today, but Damon's at bat was huge. I think he was the real hero of the game.

outstanding awareness and baserunning. that won the game for them, lidge would not throw a slider with a guy on 3rd.

A-Rod and Posada with huge hits in the ninth but none of that would have been possible without that 2 out nobody on at bat by Damon. Then the inredible events that followed ..... I could watch that ninth inning 100 times ...

Seriously, I've never seen anyone steal two bases on the same play. I've seen them steal second and then advance on a throwing or fielding error but to get credit for two steals on one play? Amazing.

    Hi Chad,

Amazing it was! Damon played with a lot of heart last night. I was hoping for a split second that he would get the chance to steal home too! That would have really been the cat's meow.

I found the following stats to be quite incredulous:

The last National League player to steal second, then third, then home plate consecutively during the same inning was Eric Young of the Colorado Rockies on June 30, 1996.

The last American League player to steal second, then third, then home plate consecutively during the same inning was Chris Stynes of the Kansas City Royals on May 12, 1996.

The career record for these larcenous occurrences are four (4) in the American League by Ty Cobb and three (3) in the National League by Honus Wagner.
