GB: 1858 Small Date Farthing - How Small is Small?

The late Colin Cooke discussed this several times, with the greatest printed discussion supposedly in his Farthing List #35 (or was it 36?). Other than the "1 over 1" and wide vs. narrow date spaced varieties, the summation that I have seen on descrimination between the two (LD vs. SD) types is that the the final 8 datal is out of alignment and higher placed on the SD. SD is of course noted to be a good bit scarcer and quite rare in higher states of preservation.

This is interesting and I am not the researcher for this, but wonder if there might not be more types. I have two specimens and one is quite clearly the obvious LD; the other however appears to have smaller date digits, especially the bottom loop of the 5 but also the overall size of the other digits with only minimal elevation of the final 8.

Does anybody have any further experience or commentary on the 1858 farthing and its types?

OK, this might be going out on a limb to ask for input on this subject, but any takers?

Wrong denomination for me I'm afraid. Try this link. Colin is a knowledgable chap when it comes to farthings.

Rob, that is a great link. One would think that copper large module farthings would be a bit boring but that is a nice listing with lots of detail. As I have a large monitor at work, I think I will bring both in and try to type them according to what Colin has there. A bit of info left for him to fill out but interesting that this seems to flesh out what I have seen im my limited sample.
