I'm not sure what the final price drop was but I saw it the other day and thought it was very affordable

How did it get so big if it was and still have that kind of detail?
Is it just missing the clad layers and thus not be off metal but a planchet defect?
Please enlighten me as I really am having trouble understanding.
Oh, and nice pickup as I've never even seen one so they must not be very common!
