turn a red copper coin into a nice brown copper coin?

I will elaborate later.

I thought of this today as well when I got my unc copper 2009 Lincoln's in the mint set today.

Some of you Love the brown unc cents of yesteryears and may want their set to match with a new 2009 copper.

So, is will this darkener be considered AT.

How would you naturally brown a red set without Ating it?

    How long?

A slabbed brown high grade PCGS 2009 copper cent would be really cool.
  • the brown patina on wheaties takes years/decades to acquire. i don`t think dellars darkener will make the patina look original. take a sample bright red modern zincoln and play with dellars darkener and see the results. it seems very odd to want to take a red lincoln and make it brown. can`t wait for the OP`s follow up. image

    Time, temp, environment.

Set a red cent on your fence for a summer, it will tone.

Actually, putting a red cent directly exposed to the elements will cause it turn VERY fast and may exceed your expectation of turning brown, to just turning corrosive in short order. The proper way would be to put it out doors but in a shelter area where it has some protection. It will take 3-5 months. In fact, if you have any cleaned coins, do the same thing. I call it the back porch method.
