Did anyone not get a Cert of Authenticity with the New Lincoln C and C set?

My friend received his recently and there was no usual paperwork in the set. Anyone else experience this? Customer service told him to mail the set back to them! Are they for real or what?

Well I guess it isn't authentic, then ... image

Seriously, what is the point of the CoAs anyways? Aren't they easily duplicated unless they have a hologram or DNA or something like that?

  • I think it is a matter of being a purist when it comes to mint issued products. Most people want all the original mint packing materials. Dealers also won't buy unless the set is "complete". He just wants an intact set...

I do agree with you that the Mint should produce what they say they are going to. I recall seeing someone else's post here that they did not get the CoA. Of course someone here got a set without one of the cents!

FWIW, my CoA was loose in the package, it was not under the ribbon where it was supposed to be and I might have missed it if I did not notice it when it fell out.

  • Hmm. Come to think of it, mine doesn't have a COA. I wasn't going to sell it, so I hadn't noticed before you brought it up.

If mine had not fallen in the floor when I removed the white covering I dare say I probably would have thrown it away.

Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. Can't hurt.

One guy here mentioned his did not come with a COA, mint said to send the whole set back, but he refused to for fear he loose the set itself due to sell out, they would not just sned him another COA . According to him

I got my set tonight! I need to put a glass on the coins, but with the naked eye, the planchets look spotted and lint-ridden. image

Longacre, Longacre, don't get into the modern coin thing.
This is cheap junk for the unwashed masses.
If you keep this up, soon you'll get no respect at all here.
No one will read your forum posts. Think how that would affect you.
You may even start drinking beer and wearing blue jeans. And rolling up your sleeves, maybe.
Now Longacre, a man like you should collect something like Gobrecht Dollars.
Then even QDB would sit up and take notice.
Just show your buddy Dave a dozen or so nice high grade Gobrecht Dollars and watch his eyes light up.
    You'd be "Da Man".
He might even mention you the next time he writes a book.
I'll give you $10 for that lousy spotted set you just got, so you never have to see it again.
Then you can go Gobrecht Dollar hunting. My PM is on.

    Ray

That's pretty much how my set looks too, at least on the cents.
I'm not nearly as happy with it as I hoped I'd be.

On the plus side, all of my coin albums are Dansco's with slip covers, so the packaging fits right in image

Yep mine too but they are in loosely as soon as I opened it, it fell to the floor so not surprised some are missing.
