Quite happy with some of the grades on the 1948 Leafs as they were sent without protection for TTM's in most cases. Surprised that they managed a few PSA 6's and PSA 5's.

I gave up on sending cards in CS1's or toploaders as they present problems for some of the older signers and it beats getting the card back with only the holder signed. I've still got another 25 or so 1948 Leafs to send in and will add them to the dozen or so that I've already got PSA/DNA'd...

Just got 'em back and here are the scans...

Great job! Question - when you sent out your 48 Leaf cards, did you include pens for the players to sign with? If so, what type of pen did you send?

I make it as easy and as simple as possible for the signer. Never more than 2 cards (usually one), no CardSavers, Toploaders or Penny Sleeves, a reasonable cash donation and a courteous request to signing in ballpoint or Sharpie (depending upon the card). I also include a custom index card noting that an additional donation will be added to the GridIronGreats Fund donation that I make for every successful signature that I receive.

My success rate over the past two years is running at better than 96% (174/181) and that includes some that are typically considered "toughies." Three of the seven "failures" have been from the 1948 Leaf Set and that may be because of incorrect addresses and/or that the player has passed on.

WOW, that is an amazing % for TTM's. Nice job.

Awesome stuff Scott, I cant wait to see some scans.

Is that Geo Savitsky the one I gave you? If so, you got it auto'd AND a grade bump, nice work image
I really dig this project man, very cool. Something about these 48 leafs, they look so good signed

    Joe:

Yes, that is the card I cracked out of a PSA 5 (mislabeled as "No Green Stripe") that got signed AND bumped a grade. Maybe that's the trick with PSA. Send your mid grade cards without protection for a bump... image
  • interesting..what do you do? slip them a $20?
