At least 1950 is put to rest in that regard. Ha!

Don't taunt the baseball gods until the final out is recorded.

I made that mistake in Game 6 of the 2002 World Series with my Giants up 5-0 into the 7th inning, leading 3 games to 2 and seemingly on their way. When I went to the store to pick up a bottle of champagne, I ruined it.

    I hate Scott Spiezio.

Well, lota times the announcers "dumb down" a little bit for the World Series because of a larger viewing audience such as some watching the WS who perhaps never even watched any games during the regular season or don't know the game very well. For example I guess just to create some excitement when the Yankees scored their first run of the game in the ninth inning, the first out was made during the same play...and anyone who knows the game will tell ya in that situation, leading 6 - 0 in the bottom of the ninth, trading an out for a run is highly, highly, advantageous for the visiting team...yet the announcers made it sound like the Yankees scoring that run were in some sort of big rally mode, rather than that play basically being a rally killer.

That is true, up 6-0 in the last inning I'd gladly exchange an out for a run.

Heck I'd exchange 3 runs for three outs.

    Good for you.
