It's too bad

the Clemente thread was deleted. Presumably due to the forbidden mention of a certain company's name (?)

Don't they have the ability to just delete/edit the offending posts? Why the whole thread?

Collectors (like myself) who actually have thousands invested in PSA slabs may actually be concerned about this issue. And PSA should be concerned that we are concerned.

Additionally, we no longer have the record of what the scammer did to defraud several collectors.

Much educational value lost, IMO. Ridiculous

Well. I bought the bogus Clemente. I filed a claim with paypal. At the advice of one of the board memebers, I called paypal to explain that this was a situation of an easily verifiably counterfeit card.

The paypal representative on the phone said that she would escalate the dispute to a claim, review the situation and email me. Paypal sent an email within an hour telling me that I had to return the fake card. They would close the claim in favor of the seller if I did not have proof of delivery within ten days. The item had to be return to the seller in the exact condition I received it. He would verify for paypal that he received it.

I tried to explain that this was a case of fraud with a counterfeit item. I would essentially be giving evidence back to the suspect. I requested sending the card to PSA for verification. (I also thought PSA would like to see a case that was breached pretty well.) No. No. I had to return it ASAP.

It is my understanding that the buyer of the fake Wilt Chamberlain still has his card and is trying dispute via ebay in an attempt to avoiding returning evidence to the seller. That fact that he still has his fake card and a couple of facts I am keeping close to my vest for now may be my only hope of a refund.

I apologize as I think I'm the guilty party for mentioning the name of the company. I thought I'd seen it mentioned in prior posts, so didn't think it was a big deal. Too bad they couldn't just delete my post rather than the whole thread. Sorry, it was a good thread.

Just a follow-up. Paypal insisted I return the card to the seller. I did and received a refund. The refund just cleared my account today.

I'm glad he got his refund however I don't think this was the optimal result.

Right for the buyer, but the criminal is free to continue peddling his bogus merchandise. He only has to have 1 out of 20 people believe his scams to make it worth his while. Believe me, all is not right.
