New Cornerstone of my NBA 50 Greatest Autograph Collection.... Michael Jordan!!!!

I finally got around to picking up a Jordan autograph for my NBA 50 greatest collection. This is a 2008/09 Chronology numbered to 99. While his auto's are not necessarily rare I figured with UD losing the NBA license, MJ cards in the future from would be missing labeling for the Bulls. Also I just loved the look of this card with the silver signature and Jordan Shooting over Larry Bird.

I am down to (5) signatures now for my 50 greatest collection with (2) of the toughies remaining in Maravich and Chamberlain.

    Great pickup.

By the above statement about Maravich and Chamberlain, are you saying that they are tougher than Bill Russell, or are you saying that you already have a Bill Russell (because Bill Russell is super rare). I would love to see it if you have it.

  • I love that Jordan card as well. Nice pick-up!

I already have a Russell. He has actually been flooding the market the last couple of years with autographs via Topps and UD and even doing private signings. For years he would not sign his name.....

Here's my Russell with his number inscribed on the card:

Bought it raw and expected more than a 7 on the card but still a really nice piece..

The NBA top 50 was a shame to Dominique Wilkins.

He was a human highlight. He was a dunking icon. I was part of the NBA upswing.

He was Jordan's only competition athleticly.

Nique' was a great player in the NBA's golden era.

Do the right thing and carry 51 autos.....

    Buying:
Topps White Out (silver) letters Alex Gordon
80 Topps Greg Pryor “No Name"
    90 ProSet Dexter Manley error
90 Topps Jeff King Yellow back
    1958 Topps Pancho Herrera (no“a”)
81 Topps Art Howe (black smear above hat)
    91 D A. Hawkins BC-12 “Pitcher”

I collect HOF Basketball autos as well so I have a couple of 'Niques. His autos is very affordable. The problem with him was he played in Atlanta, never won a championship, and was not an overly vocal guy during his playing days or after. I also think his european disappearing act hurt his reputation as well.
  • I'm not a basketball guy, but that Jordan card is a beauty, congratulations!

To think that Nique was drafted by the Jazz but didn't want to play there. Could you imagine a starting 5 of Stockton, Karl Malone, Wilkins, Hornacek/Jeff Malone and Eaton/Ostertag? They would've made the finals every year from 89-99 if they kept that team in tact.

Actually I can't. Kind of like thinking how the Celtics would have done in the late 80's with Len Bias. Or the Timberwolves had they drafted different with every pick but Garnett from their inception until last year...sigh.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
  • Very nice Dr. J!!

Which other ones are missing from the Top 50? Are you doing the auto rookie for NBA Top 50?

No auto rookie for me for the top 50. That is just too much of a burden and I would likely flame out too soon.

I still need Chamberlain, Maravich, K. Malone, Ewing, and Pippen.
  • Yea I agree I am doing the NBA 50 auto rookie, it is very exhausting and long-suffering process image

Pippen Malone should be easy. Maravich and Chamberlain you probably need PSA/DNA, the company certified ones are way too pricy.

I have Pippen in Navarro's group Auto sub...I don't mind parting with that when I get it back - may be a bit though.
