PoppaJ needs your help with an acronym .....

Back in July of this year, I posted a thread about my good friend Dom who passed away and left me a few auto'd jerseys.
This morning, Dom's widow, Patty called me to ask if I might be interested in any of Dom's other collectibles. I told her to bring me anything she didn't want and I'd buy it from her. She dropped off 8 boxes of assorted items. 2 boxes were nothing but old baseball programs/score cards ranging from 1935 to 1965.
One particular score card has 2 tickets with it that contain the acronym CDVO on them. Does anyone know what CDVO stands for?
My son says it stands for Civil Defense Volunteer Office. I told him to lay off the vino!
The rosters of the 2 teams inside the score card are of the Brooklyn Dodgers (NL) and the New York Yankees (AL). Pre-season game no doubt.
Anyway, here's a few pics. I'd appreciate any/all info.
Thanks in advance,
PoppaJ

<< <i>I'll bet the O is for Organization rather than Office though >>
Hard to tell...I just googled both "Civil Defense Volunteer Office" and "Civil Defense Volunteer Organization", and came up with hits for both; so it seems both existed during WWII.

Bob, great article .... it answered a couple other questions I had, but didn't ask!
