Does anyone have a closeup of an early 1900's uniform logo?

I'm looking for a close up picture of an early 1900's baseball uniform, preferably from a Cardinals player, but I will settle for anything. I can't locate replica patches anywhere so I'm going to try to create my own. I know what the logo looked like but I would like to make the patch look as period as possible and I've had no luck finding a good picture in my google searches. Thanks in advance!

It was probably just layers of a material, as opposed to the embroidered ones we're used to.

Looking to have some custom cuts or plain custom cards built? PM me.

Would probably have to look through random Baseball Hall of Fame photos to find a decent one. Good luck!

Between 1900 and 1908 the hone uni was white with the words "St Louis" on the front.

The road was the same only the uni was gray.

In 1909 they did not have the name on the uni.

Can I find this book at Barnes and Noble or is it a specialty book that I'll have to buy online? Thanks for the info, guys.

  • from wiki:

"The first logo associated with the Cardinals was an interlocking "SL" that appeared on the team's caps and or sleeves as early as 1900. Those early uniforms usually featured the name "St. Louis" on white home and gray road uniforms which both had cardinal red accents."

I found this logo on the net but it seems different than the one on the T205 cards. So I'm hoping the book that has been mentioned here can help me out with a nice color photo of an actual logo from the time period.
