1955 Topps Baseball set for sale - heading to ebay

I am selling a complete 1955 Topps set that has some very nice key cards already grade by PSA. The eight star cards graded are below.

#2 Williams PSA 5.5
#123 Koufax rookie PSA 8
#155 Mathews PSA 6
#164 Clemente PSA 8oc
#187 Hodges PSA 6
#194 Mays PSA 7
#198 Berra PSA 6
#210 Snider PSA 7
All of these cards are very nicely centered with the exception of the Clemente of course.

SMR value exceeds $6000 just in these eight cards.

The remainder of the ungraded star cards are below.

#4 Kaline VG/Ex
#28 Banks VG
#31 spahn VG
#46 Aaron EX
#50 Robinson VGEX+ to EX
#92 Zimmer Ex/MT
#100 Irvin EX
#120 Kluszewski EXMT
#124 Killebrew EXMT in appearance (tiny hair line crease the size of an eyelash)
#152 Agganis EX
#166 Bauer EXMT
#189 Rizzuto EX

The remainder of the set breaks down as follows.
26% VG to VG/EX
35% EX
35% EX/MT
4% nrmt
I am trying not to over sell the set so I am being pretty hard on the grades. If the card looks nrmt but is OC I am placing that card as EX.

The high number series has beautiful appearance and are nice EX to EX/MT quality. I do see three of them with a heavy crease (178,180,184) in the middle of the card. It appears all three of them have the exact crease in the same location of the card.
Here are the 32 cards that I would say stick out like a turd in a punch bowl (VG to VG/EX) that need to be replaced to have a solid EX conditioned set.
14 29 30 36 58 60 65 66 84 89 103 104 110 112 115 116 125 127 131 137 139 140 141 157 159 162 163 170 178 180 184 193
I believe I saw only 7 of these that had creasing which includes #178, 180 184 already mentioned above.

In closing, I just saw a set that sold on Ebay for $4800 that was an all graded PSA 5 set. That was a fair deal for a set like that but this set has more value in my opinion with the high graded key cards. If you have any interest in building this set in high grade this will be an excellent start. I am asking $7800 delivered or best offer within reason.

I will list the set on Ebay on Monday if I don't have any interest.

Regards,
Shane

Would you consider breaking up and selling the RAW cards as one lot?

I am reducing one last time before Ebay $6900. A complete steal considering the graded cards are valued above $6K.

    48 hour sale.

  • good luck with your potential sale. you can throw SMR out the window though, very curios what the VCP is on the graded cards your selling.

Would you consider a trade for some high grade 1955 topps all americans? Or an unopened and graded cello pack? I would love to have a decent '55 baseball set to go with my AA sets from the same year.

Sorry the set is now being broken. I have sold around 25 raw cards out of it already and the Koufax and Snider are pending a sale. I will be listing 170 cards that are vg/ex to nrmt on the board this week for those who are interested in filling their sets.

    Thanks!
