was talking to my brother on the way home from the national in Cleveland. I gave him a list of cards that would love to have within reason financially still able to obtain.. you have to name one from the 4 major sports

got my baseball grail: 1961 Topps #506 Willie Davis RC PSA 9......we sit atop the mountain together and stare down at the wonderment of eyes which stare back with wonderment at us.

Hoops? '61 Chamberlain.....got a beautiful raw copy, but a solid PSA 8 would be nice to hold.

Fooball? prolly a Sayers or Butkus RC in higher grade, but no urgency right now.

Hockey? nothing specific, i want to own all of them.

Great post. Although I would love to own certain special cards of guys like Ruth, Mantle and Clemente...I will answer with the players I actually watched play when I was growing up. So here are my 4:

Baseball: 1975 Topps George Brett PSA 9
Basketball: 1980 Topps Bird/Dr.J/Magic Johnson PSA 9
Football: 1976 Topps Walter Payton PSA 9
Hockey: 1985 O-Pee-Chee Mario Lemieux PSA 9

Not huge money cards compared to some, but definately cards I will strive to one day have!

It books in SMR at $1900 in a grade of 1 so odds of ownership are slim for me, but there's no card prettier than the T3 Turkey Red Ty Cobb.

basketball russell rookie-cousey rookie-finish my celtics rookie set. just picked up a jordan PSA 8 to finish my set or that would have been in there.
football.....i have the 55 AA set that in PSA 6 min. those are the only graded football cards i ever really wanted.

I just got mine this week- a well centered PSA 8 61 Cerv. That was the last card I needed to have the entire 61 set in PSA 8 or better. I'm not sure what my new grail will be. For now I'm broke so it doesn't really matter.

Very cool thread...being primarily a football guy, I'd have to go with a '35 Chicle Nagurski in PSA 7. For basketball I'd take a PSA 9 Jordan RC, and for baseball, nothing big, just a T206 Wagner.
