1 for 3 crackout & resubmit

Well I figured I would crack out 3 of my 51 Bowmans for the heck of it, hoping maybe my PSA 6 Elroy Hirsch would get what it deserved which IMO was a solid 7 so I "Threw in" a pair that were marginal for a bump in hopes of making the Hirsch card more appealing. It worked! Im happy my Hirsch card is now in a PSA 7 holder, here are the scans pre crackout.

Thank You PSA grader!

    Thanks guys!

That Hirsch card is one of my favs so Im pretty happy about it, not a high dollard card or even a "tough" card by the pop reports but I will tell you it has been a nightmare trying to find a 7 that I like, I had such a hard time finding a nice centered one so I settled for a 6, funny I saw a few 8's that were poorly centered and overpriced hence the buy of the 6 for short money.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • I gotta tell ya - I am not an NFL football collector anymore - but those 1951 Bowmans (especially RAMS) are beautiful.

so much so that I recently broke my own rule and purchased one !

Im confused? Broke your own RULE and bought one????? Why on earth bench yourself like that! You got a gorgeous football card there, if you can afford it why not pick up some more especially if your not concerned with grades- you can get them relatively cheap on the Bay as there are a ton of 51's available raw and lower grade.

    Have fun and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I've used that technique before - sending in other "marginally" graded cards with a card that I'm hoping for a bump on. It definately does work, but you still have to have a good eye, and understand how they grade certain cards/years. Looks like you know your 51 Bowmans!
