Eagles lost badly today so that means the Phillies win this game tonight - You see I have an advanced intellectual understanding of how the Philly Sports Gods work.
sure would have liked at least one insurance run in the 8th - Casey Blake looked overmatched in that at-bat. Now we have to face the meat of the order in the 8th & 9th. Those first six Phillie batters are scary good.

I had to laugh at the fans in Philly attempting the 'beat LA' chant. The cadence was too fast, the cheer too disjointed. That cheer belongs to Giants fans, and Giants fans alone - nobody does it better.
<< <i>series over now. The Dodgers can't beat Hamels and Lee both. >>
It's gonna be very tough for the Dodgers to win 3 straight but not impossible. A problem for the Dodgers is even if they win game 5 and go back to LA, the Phillies are the best road team in MLB this season so there isn't much of any home field advantage against the Phillies...but I'm not counting the chickens yet as Aesop once so wisely quoted.
Would be nice to see the Phillies wrap up this thing at home and get ready for the junior circuit representative.
Dang Dodgers. They are turning into the Cub's or the Giant's. Ok, well not that bad but still I would like another world series title. It's been a while!
I don't see the Dodgers making a comeback and I am looking foward to the two best teams in baseball (Yankees and Phillies) having a very entertaining series.
No Steve, this isn't a jinx attempt in case you're wondering

It's the chant of the downtrodden. The season for a Giants fan isn't complete until all LA teams have been eliminated. Since our team doesn't win, we're reduced to deriving ghoulish satisfaction out of LA failure. So, to that end, we're happy to ship our "Beat LA" chant east for as long as it's needed this year.
<< <i>The frequency of closer meltdowns in these playoffs is astounding. I don't know that a 9th inning lead has ever felt so unsafe... >>
Nothing quite as epic as the 2001 World Series.. yet. Closers went 1 for 4 in save situations. Byung-Hyun Kim blew 2 games for the D-Backs, and Mariano Rivera blew the series in the bottom of the 9th of Game 7.

I'm not worried about it, but I really don't wanna go back to LA - yes, let's wrap it up tonight at home...and then on to meet the Yankees who obviously are a mortal lock at this point to win the AL pennant.

I can pay you a little now or a lot later...whichever you prefer.
Well...I gotta run out...get stocked up on Sam Adams and Lays BBQ chips, plus some other food and drink necessities.
Nice game tonight with no pressure - I won't need any nitro pills I don't think...Phillies win it then fantastic...if not...they are a great road team and should win one outa two at LA if needed.
But I don't expect the Dodgers to go down easy tonight - I think it will be a tough ballgame.
Jeeze, up 8-3 in the 7th of a series clincher and the fans are just eh...

phillies really need to strike while they have momentum, no giving them ANY breathing room. I dont want this going back to LA.

I like that Jason Werth. He went to the same high school as my kids.
How did the Dodgers win the most games in the NL with this pitching staff!
They are pathetic !!! Too bad Torre can't just throw a white towel onto the field and go home.
Stick a fork in'em.............their done!
Philly's vs Yankees World Series.......................there's been a bunch of those.... who would be favored this year???
Not a good night for pitchers.
God I hate these nail biters with pitching changes every inning.
Cholly though is the master at it. Have to trust him.
Run Manny run!!!!!
