I have an opportunity to purchase one to ten 2006 once ounce Buffalo gold coins, still in the mint shrink wrap.

Is there a premium on these?
What would be a fair price to pay?

I have until Thursday to pass or play.

There is still a premium, but it has dropped severely since the Mint announced that it will be selling 2009-dated coins soon.

We will be able to buy them from our distributor in quantity at 3.6% over spot. We are currently selling them at spot +$65 for future delivery.

How much is the seller asking?

He wants spot plus $200. for the 2006's. Less for the other dates.

    Too much, I think.
Still, it is a neat way of owning gold. The Buffalos are my favorite design.
