So how would a Dodgers-Angels World Series play out across the country?

SanctionIISanctionII Posts: 12,209 ✭✭✭✭✭
Would it be a hit only in So.Cal. or would it do well nationally?

It would not be paid much attention to by the general public in No. Cal.

I assume that it would be similar to the Giants-Athletics World Series in 1989. A big hit locally, but not interesting to much of the rest of the country [at least until the earthquake hit].

I might watch a total of ten minutes of it.

I think the Dodgers would still be a good draw nationally. Not sure about the Halos.

The East Coast will watch, they just won't tell anybody.

I game I don't care about, with a likely START time of 9:37 PM? No way.
  • honestly depends on the start times. cant they compromise a bit lol

The start times do matter but remember out here on the left coast a lot of your east coast games start when we are still at work.

I am a So Cal transplant living in No Cal and I would be watching... and rooting for the Dodger's.
  • IMHO, MLB has done a poor job of promoting when it comes to the Dodgers and Angels. Outside of Manny and Torre, casual fans couldn't name more than 3 other Dodgers. It's even worse on the Angels. Yet, most casual fans can name a half dozen Phillies if not more and countless Yankees. There are some great young players on the Dodgers and Angels and nobody knows who they are. Both teams meeting in the World Series won't help that.

It seems that both teams meeting in the World Series WOULD help this as then people would see them and hear their stories, no!?
  • While I may not watch all of them, ill watch the majority of the games no matter who plays.

Do you live in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean?

It's the World Series, and I'm a baseball fan. I'll watch.
  • I am a baseball fan period. I would love to see certain teams play, but I will watch whoever earns their way in!

No way they start a World Series game at 9:30PM ET - that's a recipe for disaster if they want to get any type of east coast ratings. The absolute latest it would start is 9PM....

as for the interest outside of California? almost zero. FOX is praying for Yankees/Dodgers.

I will might watch 11 minutes. I would be happy that the Yankees are eliminated, however.

A lot of people really hate it when the world doesn't revolve around the east coast.

Not a surprise that I'm hoping for at least the Dodgers to make it. I'd prefer to face the Yankees, thereby seeing my team beat three of the most popular choices to win. I realize that a Yankees-Dodgers matchup would probably be FOX's choice for a WS matchup, but as others have said, I'll watch whoever's in it. If it's not the Dodgers, I'll be rooting HARD for the Phillies to beat either the Yankees or the NOT LOS ANGELES Angels of Anaheim. I detest the Angels almost as much as I do the Giants.

Yankees a strong favorite and the Phils are a slight dog, so it could very well happen - I'd love to see it.

But frankly if the Phils get there, any junior circuit team will do. image

Why the doom and gloom if it doesn't involve the stupid east coast? there are a lot of people that don't live out there, you know.

I plan on watching every game, regardless of who makes it, just because I love baseball. Of course, I have the benefit of living on the west coast and I won't have to sacrifice sleep just to watch two teams I don't care about in the Fall Classic.
