84 Down--1952 Dixie Cup Nelsons Ice Cream Completed in PSA 8 or Better

While this set would not have been on my radar screen a year ago, with the decision to build The Vintage Card Museum in Georgia, I am actively seeking to build or buy high grade non-sports sets that I like to fill up what will be the non-sportscard room of the museum. My interest are 1960s and earlier and I like sets with people--such as movie stars, singers, presidents but am willing to consider anything that I like.

My 1952 Dixie Cup Nelsons Ice Cream set was bought intact from Worldwide Collectibles. The set consists of 24 lids with pictures of famous movie stars of the era. The set includes such legendary figures as Bing Crosby, Clark Gable, Bob Hope, Elizabeth Taylor and John Wayne.

The set has a 9.21 set rating(9s do not appear too difficult with this set) placing it 3rd behind Worldwide Collectibles top set and HOF collector Bill Bengen and just ahead of noted collector Marty Quinn. It consists of 5 psa 10s and 19 psa 9s. I will let the set rest at that level.

This set represents my 11th vintage or semi-vintage non-sports set completed in psa 8 or better and my 84th overall. The goal remains 100 vintage or semi-vintage sets in PSA 8 or better. I appreciate the help of all collectors and dealers in helping me achieve my goal.

Jim, congrats on a neat set.
Last week while in the Lehigh Valley I drove past the old Dixie Cup plant in Easton, PA.
Its listed on the back of the lids.

Here's a pic of a random slabbed lid so all can see what they look like.

I was at a wedding in Raleigh, NC and got there at 3pm Sunday--mostly went to do a pickup and a dropoff with PSA. I did see your buddy Levi there.
