I feel sooooo dirty for rooting for the Dodgers image

I've been a Dodger hater for as long as I can remember, and rooting for them just feels wrong!!!!! image

Steve, I'd be interested to hear why you are. As a Padre fan, I know it's got to be hard. If the role was reversed, though, I'd definitely be rooting for the Pads - I cannot stand the Cardinals. I know for sure it's because of LaRussa, and perhaps a couple of the over-the-top Pujols worshipers have contributed, too. Mostly it's LaRussa, though.

yawie, what's the general feeling around your parts about Limbaugh's bid for our Rams? At this point, I don't really care who owns the team; I just want someone to come in and clean house and get our ship righted. It's so depressing being a Rams fan right now - thank goodness for fantasy football.

There's a thread going on about the potential Limbaugh-Checketts ownership of the team. I would hate to see him become a part of the local sports landscape, but you're right: something's gotta give with the franchise. Hard to believe the Rams were on top of the NFL not too terribly long ago because they're an absolute joke right now. Like you said, I think a lot of anti-Limbaugh Rams fans could ignore his politics if the ownership group quickly turns things around. Winning is indeed everything.

    Geordie,

Basically, it just goes against everything I was taught when I was a kid. I grew up in the 1970's, and even though there was a great difference in the teams, and they were never really "rivals" for the division pennant, it just was not possible to like the Dodgers if you were a Padre fan. My hatred of the Dodgers was almost as intense as my hatred of the Raiders! The players I really hated were Don Sutton, Andy Messersmith and Ron Cey. It's funny, but as much as I hated the Dodgers, I've always loved listening to Vin Scully. I guess that just shows how good he is! image

I have mellowed quite a bit since leaving San Diego in 1985 when I joined the Air Force, and I don't really "hate" the Dodgers any more. I'd say it's more of a "grudging respect" than anything else.

But it still just somehow feels wrong, although I guess I could justify it by saying that I'm still rooting for the NL West image

This series will be back in LA.
    Game 3 = Cards 7 - Dodgers 4. Game 4 = Cards 11 - Dodgers 8

Last night I heard Adam Wainwright whining about it not being fair that fans be allowed to wave white towels when a white baseball is being used. Is he seriously using that as an excuse for Holiday not catching that ball? I suppose officials at Busch Stadium in their wholesome goodness don't hand out white towels to their fans, right? They probably do the honorable thing and hand out red or blue towels so opposing players have a fair chance to catch the little white ball. Besides, when Holiday made his error, towels were NOT in the equation. Up to that point, the Dodgers were being 3-hit and were down to their last out. As that Loney liner streaked towards left, exactly how many frenzied joyous fans were waving those evil white towels? How many, Adam?

Suck it up, Whinewright- you pitched a heck of a game, your teammate made an error at a crucial part of the game, and your (c)loser grabbed his throat from there. I do agree with one thing he said, though. If people think this series is over, it most likely isn't (although I'd be happy to be proven wrong).
  • yikes. I had the cardinals going to the WS against the Angels (and losing the angels). Shows how much I can predict 5 game series.

This series can change might quick so a game 5 is a real posibility.

    Go Dodgers of course.
  • Geordie, after tonight I may not be sending you any more cards. image

Doran, if it weren't for you, I could completely despise the Cards. As it is, I don't like them much. Condolences, my friend.
