What is a complete Jefferson Nickel set worth?

I have a set of Jefferson nickels I put together a couple years ago, and I'm curious what it's worth. Whenever I've tried to price this set in the past, I haven't been able to find a comparable set. I either find a set completely from circulation or one with all Gem BU coins, and the price between the two varies greatly.

All coins from the late 60's to 2008 were pulled from original rolls or cut from mint sets

Coins before about 1968 get in lower condition the older they are. The 1950-D is MS65, and the 39-D is probably F15. War nickels are XF/AU.

Collection housed in a Dansco album. What's this set worth?

    That's a tough callimage

Does this set include all the proofs?

When you have a mixed set like that in a Dansco, it is difficult to place a dollar figure on the complete set due to all the variables. Some would say, any Jefferson beyond 1960 is worth less than 50¢ each and then separate the keys from 38-50D and go from there. Then you have condition issues with the War Nickel years. The higher the grade/toning the more those may be worth. Throw a couple of FS’s in there from the 70’s & 80’s and everything get tossed out the window.

I've seen half way decent sets offered (highest bid) of $235.00 (I thought it would go for $275-$300) and then the ridiculous BIN's as high as $750! (they was fishing, instead of a'wishin)

Just business strikes, which is another reason why it's hard pricing this set.

I can only say that Jefferson's are not hot at the moment with the exception of the 39d. A set as you describe I would say around a hundred bucks tops. Less if you have very few BU pre 1955 coins. The fact that many of the early coins are circulated make the set worth just a bit more then an all circulated set. This is based on what I have seen in some shops and on ebay.
  • Jefferson nickels sets are quite common. Bid on a complete set, doesn't really matter if the 1956 on are bu or not is $25. I can buy sets 38-61 from dealers all day for $20. I would say a complete set like that is worth $50 to $75 at the very most and that is pushing it.
