FS: 1957 Topps Baseball 209-Card Lot...LOW GRADE***SOLD***

***THIS LOT IS SOLD***

209 cards, no duplicates. This is 51% of the entire set. I've included many scans to give you a good idea of what's offered. All cards are raw except for #270 Duke Snider. Please ask if you wish to see a scan of any card, front or back.

These are low grade cards. Each card exhibits one or more of the following card killers: creases, wrinkles, stains, rounded corners, surface scratches, poor centering, and miscut. One card (#270 Duke Snider PSA 1) has a pinhole. If you are looking for mid-to-high grade cards, then this lot will disappoint.

Now for the positive. Despite the defects, many cards look pretty good, and some look darn good. There are many stars and HOFers included.

I was first to respond and the lot sure sold but not to me. I guess I didn't have enough "seniority"

Not everyone types "PM sent" in the thread, they just PM the person. Alot can happen in 13 minutes, and Brett's integrity is beyond reproach.

    Nick,

    Thanks for the kind words.

    Eric,

I'm sorry you didn't get the lot. You were the first to reply, 2 minutes ahead of the eventual buyer. I replied to your message 5 minutes after receiving it and asked that you respond quickly, as there was an interested buyer. I also told the eventual buyer that he will have to wait because I wanted you to have a fair chance. No, you are not required to keep a constant watch on your computer for a PM. However, I responded to you quickly, and ask only for the same courtesy. I never heard from you following your initial PM until after I announced that the lot had been sold. It would not have been fair for me to keep the other party waiting indefinitely. I felt that one hour was reasonable.

I'm truly sorry if this has created any hard feelings.

I have dealt with Brett before as well, and I agree completely with Nam's assessment. He is a man of total integrity.

  • Thanks for the reply back, but I didn't even get an hour I got 27 minutes as you clearly stated the lot was sold at 8:10 in one of your posts. I checked a few minutes after I posted and had no messages so I figured I would check back in an hour or so. I could understand not getting the lot if I hadn't responded within 3 hours or so but not 27 minutes or even an hour. I am done "complaining" about this from here on out but the bottom line is the lot should've been sold to the first one to respond.

Woah...that is a steal of a deal....I thought it was nice with the Williams, but then to see the Dodgers Sluggers, Mick/Berra, Richardson RC, etc. very nice lot indeed. Congrats to whomever got that deal.
Kiss me once, shame on you.
    Kiss me twice.....let's party.

    Eric,

Yes, I posted at 8:10 that the lot was sold. That was in response to the trade request. No deal had been finalized, but I knew the lot would be sold either to you or the eventual buyer. I didn't want others spending their time unnecessarily for a group of cards that was no longer available. The post was updated as "sold" one hour after I last heard from you. I don't want to argue, I just want the record straight since our private matters have been made public.

Again, I'm very sorry for the hard feelings. It was simply a lack of communication. I did not know that you were committed to buying the cards. Had I known, I would certainly have held them for as long as you needed. Being on the other end of incidents such as this, I understand your disappointment and frustration. Usually when something like this happens to me as a buyer, I inevitalby find a better deal in short order.

  • Honestly, I'm beatin' myself up that I didn't see this group first. Would love to find a deal like this!!

I bet whoever bought these cards will be very impressed with the grades. Brett is as conservative a card grader as there is.

It's tough to undergrade these cards, Michael. They all have significant flaws that would keep them from getting anything better than a 4. Nearly every card has a wrinkle or crease. The few that don't have rounded corners or stained backs. Many have great eye appeal, but would not grade well.
