1953 topps

Anybody completed this set. I'm about 40% there but don't have any high #'s yet. I am trying to complete the whole set in a 7. Wondering how difficult it is to find the high series in a psa 7, especially some of the high sp's?

I'm working on doing the same set in PSA-7 and finding some fierce competition especially with the high %'s. I have about 125 cards currently including some tough high numbers but honestly. it's getting ridiculously expensive at this point. I'm considering completing this with some 6's and maybe even some 8OC's which no one seems to want so they are a dime a dozen. If you have any dupe 7's I would be interested in hearing what you have.

    Good luck!

Good Luck on your adventure .1953 Topps is one of my favorites your expectations are challaging for sure. Those High #s because of the cards graphics ought to look pretty sweet just the same an a lot lower cost >they are quite difficult to find especially the SPS.

  • I just finished this set up in a full PSA 7 last month. It's a beautiful set and a crown jewel in my collection.

If you are not pushed for time you will find most cards come up and are available at a reasonable price. Don't get sucked into buying the first one you see. There are some cards which are a bear to locate. Miranda, Bolling and Groat were my three toughest cards to locate and did not come cheap. The others were generally right around SMR or maybe a touch over when I just had to have it. Jackie Robinson was the last card needed for the set but I got distracted trying to cross a SGC 84 to a PSA 7 and missed some real deals while I was fooling around.

Good luck. I've got a handful of extra 1953's if you need them:

1953 Topps 1 Jackie Robinson PSA 6 (was SGC 84 and will probably go back there soon)
1953 Topps 15 Bobo Newsom PSA 8 OC
    1953 Topps 65 Earl Harrist PSA 7
    1953 Topps 94 William Kennedy PSA 7
    1953 Topps 111 Hank Sauer PSA 7
    1953 Topps 190 Dixie Walker PSA 7
    1953 Topps 269 Duane Pillette PSA 7
