With much fanfare, the CoinFest show is literally days away, to be held in lovely downtown Stamford, CT. As I write these words, gentle readers, I am peering out my window from my undisclosed location and seeing a beautiful Fall day in the Connecticut suburbs. The weather is turning cooler, and the leaves have started to change colors on the trees. It is the perfect time to attend the preeminent coin show in the Northeast Corridor-- CoinFest.
I expect BIG dealers and BIG collectors to attend the show. I even got an email from a certain unmentionable dealer in California, who will be manning the CAC table, and, with a power unseen in recent memory in the numismatic marketplace, will hopefully place a green sticker on your coins, thereby increasing the marketability of such coins.
A frenzy of utmost frothiness is in the offing, and the red carpet will be rolled out for you.
Please sign in to this thread if you plan on attending the show.

But actually it's Friday - Sunday, at Table #232.
I may wear a Toyota Financial hat because it's so much fun to do so (I was once mistaken for a repoman while wearing it which was VERY amusing).

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I will be submitting some coins to PCGS for crossing from NGC, submitting some of Daniel Carr's Ameros to ANACS as well as submitting some Byzantine coins to NGC.
I also will be bring my NGC MS-67 1956 type 2 reverse quarter which I will send to PCGS to grading/proper attribution. I believe PCGS will cross it at MS-66. But I will do it at "any grade."
I wonder of gold will still be at record prices when attending?
So where is this 2:30pm forum members meeting?
We will be happy to give a special pre-show discount for any coins we sell on Thursday. If you plan to come beat the rush and save some Bucks!

I'm coming Sat with my two kids, 13 and 16. Are there any attractions in/around Stamford that my kids may be interested in?

The major fall-winter 2009 exhibition at the Bruce Museum offers a multi-faceted introduction to alchemy -- from ancient times through its flourishing in the 16th and 17th centuries, exploring the science and art it inspired. Alchemy: Magic, Myth or Science? is organized by the Bruce Museum as an interdisciplinary show describing the history and significance of alchemy, the precursor to modern chemistry, through artworks and artifacts.

Had dinner tonight at the Crab Shell Restaurant. The New England crab soup was excellent as was the stuffed fillet of sole. The only problem I noticed was that there was more staff than people eating. When I was there (around 7 on a Thursday), there were only 3 tables with people. There was no problem selecting a table or booth.
