Our local coin club sponsors a small show each fall - only about a dozen tables at most. Fun visits nonetheless and sometimes a nice coin.

Here's today's purchase from Jerry Swanson - a great dealer and local hobby leader out of Rochester, MN. Gotta good deal

It's an 1814 O.106a (MDS) - R. 4+
I'm thinking it's maybe touching F12 - this die marriage is mushy due to the state of the dies.
It's a fun die marriage - Ear Bars, lots of clashing (feathers in front of neck and letters near the date) and then there are those die breaks on the reverse. Sort of a messed up coin!

Thanks for the comments, guys. I don't think I'll ever even care to own an MS-70, Bear, no matter what the series. I like a coin with a little character. I mean, check out that wearied look in poor Miss Liberty's eye on this coin. She must have been through a lot!

CBH is the coin that got me collecting, my dad dug up an 1834 in our yard in 1964. It was really worn out much more than yours...nice pick up... that coin has some history too bad it can`t talk!

Bcsican - I'm interested to hear where this yard was where your father found the cbh. I live in Minnesota - founded in 1855, there weren't too many cbh's floating around out here by the time we started to amass any type of population (maybe the 1870s-1880s). I'd be blown away if anybody found a buried cbh out here! Not that it couldn't happen...
