how the mighty have fallen (99 pacific warner)

Does anyone remember how hot this card was in early '99 (I think it was his only RC for awhile). Now, it sells for .49 plus shipping! AND HE IS A FUTURE HOFER!!
If you would have told people in '99 that he will be in the HOF but this card will be worth a dollar, I dunno if they would have believed you.

Had that continued to be his only rookie it would be much more valuable. The contenders rookie ticket came out later and it is the one everyone wants. It brings about $100. I do remember how hot that card was in early 1999. A reporter asked him about what he thought about only having one football card and Warner said "You mean half a card." I picked up a few at the flea market from a guy who opened a ton of that stuff and put together team sets. I was paying .50 a set and selling the Warners for $50 the same day.

This card was incredibly hot back in the day. I was living in Des Moines, IA, former home of the Iowa Barnstromers, when he broke out with the Rams. I would do weekend shows and these would literally fly off the table. It's still a somewhat hard card to find in high grade as the blue chips very easily and the serial numbered versions, red, blue, and platinum are very difficult to find and carry a stiff premium when you do find them.

  • Still one of my all-time favorite cards. There frenzy over it (pre-other releases) was pretty exciting. It also led to collectors digging through their 1997 Pacific Philadelphia and Unsung Heroes type sets for other single-RCs of current players. I remember buying almost every one of the 2-player cards from 1999 Pacific (about $0.25/ea) and eventually made some decent money of the Kelly Holcomb and James Thrash RCs.

No, Peete was in 1989 sets. The Daymiune Craig RC in that set sold for a few bucks for a minute.

  • It WAS his only card very early in the season, then the Contenders Auto hit along with all the others.
