I bet the kid who spiked the ball feels like crap.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Brings back visions of Leon Lett one year during the Thanksgiving game. He pulled a somewhat similar bonehead play.

  • Why did they have those kids in the endzone in the first place.

Since a 46-yard field goal is a long shot for a high school team, I'd say the defending coach put the kids back there to defend against a fake field goal. Or maybe it's just the way they always lined up for a field goal attempt, and the coach didn't give it any more thought than that.

I guess, the player did not realize action contuinues til the play is over, unlike basketball or hockey, that end at the buzzer.

Feel bad for the player that just threw down the ball, but a nice heads up play by the winning team...Donato

That sucks for that kid. I am sure he won't do that again.

Even if he downed it he still would have needed an opponent to touch him?

Better he did not catch the ball I guess.

Still, he was in a position to score a TD himself.

In HS when the player goes to their knees they are down, unlike the pros.

In high school and college, as soon as a player's knee touches the ground, they're down and the play is over - no need to be touched.

Guaranteed the coach will tell his kids to always down the ball in that situation in the future. Tough way to learn a simple lesson...

Ahh thanks, it has been 36 years since I played HS football.

All he had to do was drop down to one knee and the game was over, instead he had to spike the ball

like the mutts in the NFL do.

Too bad, what a way to lose a game.

Wonder how many laps #25 will have to run during the next practice? but seriously...it was likely poor coaching.
