PSA Pack Poppage Results! 1970s Wax and Cello Packs....

These were sent in under the August special. I am very pleased with the results overall...the 1975 mini wax packs were from one of the REA auction boxes, most of the rest were taken from once-full boxes of mine or raw packs that I had acquired from trusted sources over the last couple of years. The PSA 9 1973 Topps cello back was in a GAI 7 holder that I cracked open. Only disappointment was that PSA mixed up the labels on the PSA 9 1972 OPC pack and the PSA 8 1973 Topps All Series wax pack. Will PSA correct those labels if I send them in with my next sub?

Thanks, guys, for the kind words. I write down the name of the player showing on the submission form. The cellos obviously are plain as day, but they will notate the flip with a player's name showing through the wax as long as it is visible...the name is readable through the wrapper on the wax packs I've submitted...I'd assume they wouldn't notate it unless they could determine the card through the wrapper when the pack is held in hand..

Interestingly I spoke with Hart months ago concerning PSA's policy regarding the series designation of a wax pack. He said that unlike the policy of GAI, he will only list the series of a particular pack if he can positively identify a card within that wax pack.
Unfortunately GAI has routinely fallen victim to "slick" submitters who, for example, will submit a 1972 bb wax box with twenty-two series two packs and two series five packs. The submitter will make sure all twenty-two series two packs have no identifiable cards showing while at the same time making sure the two series five packs have obvious identifiable cards.
The submitter will then describe the box on the submission form as being a series five box and many times in circumstances like this GAI will incorrectly slab all twenty-four packs as being series five.
Hart said he will make sure this unprofessional practice won't happen at PSA. It's good to know that now when you pay a premium for a particular series you can pretty much be assured that the cards in the wax pack will be from that series.
<< <i> Nice, 100% success rate! One question, if you have a wax pack with stars showing, do they note it on the label if you list it on the forms or do the card numbers or names have to be very easily viewable through the wax wrapper? I have a few packs where the star card isn't easy to see without pressing the wrapper onto the card.

What about if only the card number is visible? Do you indicate where to look, especially if it's on the gum side?

I'm not sure what extent they'd be willing to go to verify the card showing through the wrapper, but I'd imagine that definitive proof would be required in the way if a card # or name on the card. Just about every wax pack I've seen with a star player notation on the holder was facing front out, FWIW.
