Is This Some Sort of Scam? 1959 Mays

Mays Auction

If you look at the seller's feedback as a buyer, it shows he recently purchased a PSA 8 Mays and PSA 8 Aaron. Now he's selling the same cards as raw 'NM-MT'. The original Aaron PSA 8 is no longer shown in the auction photo but the Mays is and it really looks like the same card as the one he's selling. Why would someone crack out PSA 8 star cards and sell them raw? His feedback is only 48 but all positive. Another red flag is he states he doesn't accept Paypal. Maybe a hijacked account?

I don't think he has the option to 'not' accept PP - I thought that was mandatory for all sellers now.

He shows the PP logo and that he accepts it, yet in his description he says he does not.

Sellers DO NOT have to accept PP, but have to accept some sort of electronic payment.

he does not, so he is not following ebay rules.

Not a person I'd want to do business with, even if you get a deal on this card he prolly won't send it.

At best he sends back your dough at the worst he keeps both.

    Good for you.
  • Yes
  • If you look, the card IS in a PSA holder, he just TRIED to crop it out.....probably hoping that you didn't notice his recent purchase.

Just noticed the '62 Mays is also definitely in a holder. I hadn't looked at his other auctions.
  • I bet he did purchase the 8, and realized it was in the old holder (pre half points) resubmitted the card, and it came back lower then the 8 it was in... Now he is trying to sell it as a raw, and if he doesn't get the price he wants will cancel the auction or not sell.

AGREED! And if you look at the left side of the card, just before the semi circle begins at the bottom, you can see that it is definitely the same card as the one that was recently purchased in the PSA 8 holder.

Someone mentioned that the current seller may have cracked, resubbed and gotten a lower grade and thus selling it raw. Another possibility ... the current seller stole the picture from the PSA ebay sale, DOES NOT EVEN HAVE THE CARD, TRIED to crop the holder out ... and its a SCAM!!!!!

That's the strange thing though. His feedback as a buyer does indeed show he purchased a PSA 8 '59 Mays and Aaron with positive feedback. Maybe he stretched himself too thin and is trying to rip people off to get some cash.

I bet he upgraded his raw copies and is using the images of his graded copies for the old bait and switch...

The whole thing does sound odd, but isn't it plausible that he cracked and resubbed, got a 7, and decided to sell it raw because he figured he could get more for a raw NM-MT than a PSA 7?

    Dear cpetti5zuo,

This is the actual card and it is not in a PSA holder nor is it a borrowed scan. Thanks for your inquiry.
