New to Non Sports: a little help please

After walking around the Philly card show last weekend and not finding what I was looking for (I collect 1974 Topps PSA in all 4 sports), I kept finding myself drawn to all the non sport cards. They only non sport stuff I have are a few 1944 American Beauties in PSA 7. I know almost nothing about the non sport card world, but WOW was I drawn to it. I especially like the airplane cards from 1957. I am an ex Air Force pilot and would love to know more about aircraft cards of any year. Where do I go to find details on the sets. If anyone has anything that they want to sell, let me know. I will take a look.

Thanks in advance

Ken

  • Best place to start personally, would be to click on the PSA set registry link and look at some of the non sport sets for reference. 1952 Topps Wings, 1954 Bowman Power For Peace and as you mentioned the '57 sets as well. Ebay is pretty good for '52 Wings--you can still pick up mid to high grade for an affordable price.

Actually Collect Non Sport, but am just so full of myself I post all over the place !!!!!!!
  • I have F&B scans posted of all the cards in my PSA Registry sets. Over 900 cards - under the name WarHoundR69. Check them out, a range of sets from the 1930's to the 1960's. World in Arms has an airplane subset.

I'm sorry but I do not know how to post a link. If someone could do that for me I would appreciate it.

The Net54 Vintage NonSports Forum has a Gallery Section where scans of literally thousands of NonSports cards are posted. These range from the very first NonSport card, through 19th. century issues up to 1970. You might want to check that out as well.

Many great airplane sets are shown there.

  • Actually, I picked up some 1985 G1 Tranformers at an estate sale last week. I found them 95% complete and with their instruction books and other inserts.

It has been interesting - they really are very imaginative toys.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • Ok, What about pricing on non-sports cards? VCP has some, but is there a "go to" for raw pricing?

a good magazine is "the wrapper" which deals only in non sport... if you could get your hands on one, you will see loads of non sport stuff and perhaps a pricing guide..
