They're smart enough to understand that there's money to be made regardless of your political stripes. Notice the impression and click-based ads all over the site. More impressions=more clicks=more $. Trying to tie CU's profitability to political affiliation is quite a stretch.

Warned for what? I am all for civil and responsible comments on the board, but stifling opposing viewpoints through the issuance of "warnings" is exactly the kind of intolerance we're preached not to practice. The mods can, of course, delete whatever they like but issuing a warning for having a certain POV is frightening.
I was the OP of the thread. It was not intended to be political in nature, it was sports related. It doesn't bother me though that people on both sides made political comments.
If you're going to make this statement, go ahead and name who should be warned and why. Don't hide behind the anonymity of an ambiguous post.

I'm not going to get into a Democrat/Republican debate but surely you guys can agree that a far greater % of Democrats are on welfare than Republicans. The whole reason that guy in Washington got elected is because he promised all the poor, dead beats of society that they would be taken care of better. The demographic that I'm speaking of had no clue as to any of his issues or what was part of his platform, yet they voted for him anyway because someone told them that their living conditions would be better without them actually having to work for anything. FACT.
I will also say that my earlier post was made without really thinking. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if people on welfare ARE in fact making submissions with part of their monthly checks. They are probably the ones that get the results back with a bunch of 5, 6, and 7's on 90's stuff that everyone makes fun of.

Ron, I'll confess that I didn't see the original post, but I seriously doubt warnings are being issued for people merely having opposing POVs. Rather, it's likely due to some of the comments espousing a political viewpoint which is completely inappropriate for a sports cards & memorabilia forum.
I have no problem with somebody holding a different opinion than I do or even questioning my point of view, but the bottom line is that politics and political discussions don't belong in this forum. We slam people, rightly so, when they use this forum to spam us with cards for sale yet we seem to be much more lenient on people who seem unable to keep their political opinions to themselves.

If I make a political view, I get warned...other should to. This is not the spot for it, and it is against the Collector's Universe rules, if you do not understand that Ron I don't know what to tell you. This is a sports card forum.
If you would like me to name names and quote things then please forward me a copy of the thread. However, if you made comments that are against the Collector's Universe rules then yes, you should get warned or booted.
I don't think it matters that you were the OP of the thread or what your feelings toward it is. This is not your forum. It is CUs.

I didn't mind the thread being political. The Olympic bid was both a sports and political issue. Sadly many people can't discuss either without bringing up race or other unrelated issues. Now if Corvette doesn't mind i'm going to go cash my welfare check

Actually, a lot of people buy cards and memorabilia with money from government assistance. Many times people are trying to "make a quick buck" buying raw, submitting, and selling a graded card and can justify their spending as "well, not my money"

I don't know what internet "facts" I can or can't believe but a quick search suggest that Republicans infact recieve more welfare benefits. Plus it seems hard to calculate because so many welfare benefit recipients are children under 18 with no political affiliation. BTW whats so bad about people being on welfare? If people need help i'm glad we live in a country that helps them.
