Does "Rattler" and OGH mean the same thing?

I ordered a batch of coins. Some of them were billed as being in PCGS holders. The batch arrived today. And all the holders are of an older style.

Are these old green holders (OGH) or rattlers? Do those names mean the same thing? (yes, the 1927 coin looks cleaned to me too)

Those are all rattlers. The Old Green Holders are the size and shape of the current holders, but have green labels, not blue.

Thank you for the clarification. Would someone be kind enough to post an OGH just so I can get it clear in my head how they look compared to the rattlers?

    Which one was used first?

    Thank you SilverEagles92

    Rattlers were first.

    Here's an OGH:

What are the chances of getting two classic quarter eagles in old green holders posted in the same thread. image

BTW I think the one I posted is slightly older than the one doh posted.

Haha, weird on the 2 OGH Classic QEs

I agree, you have an "older looking" font. I think my QE was graded right at the very end of the green label era.

Some people (eBay sellers) seem to use OGH to abbreviate "Older Generation Holder". I'm not saying they are
right or wrong, just pointing it out...

On that note there are folks who use the OGH for both rattlers and the ones posted above.

Both "rattler" and "OGH" usually mean, "Pay extra for this coin because it'll grade higher by today's standards, but I'm too busy to confirm this for myself."

Rattlers are earlier- probably from the 1986-1989 time frame. The OGH marks a shift in the design of the slab. There was a thread about PCGS slabs that was started by a real expert on slabs and unfortunately, his name slips my mind. Even with the OGH slabs, the font changed so there is a difference withing the OGH Slabs

The guy's posting name was Conder101-
