.......my little pea brain pegs this $3 gold as a cast (poor) copy. Auction is still running and I don't have any dog in this hunt. I just thought you'd ejoy checking the last pic offered to see for yourself. LINKY
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
wow, that was fast; auction over. This seller must be respectable; he had to end it himself based on Bob's email. This site and its members are awesome!
It's still there. Counterfeit and not even a good one.

<< <i>It looks like they want to get more cash for these fake coins than a refiner would give. >>
You're assuming they are smart enough to authenticate gold coins. Even if it were real, they would probably pay less than melt for it.

PS: it has a rotated 180 degree reverse and is on page 151 and 152 of

<< <i>Wow! Woulda fooled me. Perhaps the seller should be informed before eBay as his feedback makes it appear that he doesn't know it's a fake. >>
I sent a note off to the seller, plenty of time, shouldn't panic yet.

<< <i>I reported it for you guys to Ebay.... >>
No disrespect, but not for me. I had no intention of reporting it. I meant to inform members, if needed, of identification aspects.
That sure was fast.

I'm not a cop. Besides, I like the motto:
<< <i>I'm not a cop. >>
You don't have to be a "cop" to want to avoid seeing someone get taken to the cleaners.

I stand corrected.
I do not aspire to be a policeman. In fact, I was called several times, and declined each.

Here's another one.
It looks like he mixes good ones with fake ones. This is very disturbing since he certianly knows that he's selling fakes.
Funny they are selling coins. I would have thought that everything this shop buys goes to the refiner.
It looks like they want to get more cash for these fake coins than a refiner would give.
