I spoke with some of the token and medal dealers at the Philadelphia
Expo, and they all were happy with the show. Here are some of the
"finds" that I've added to my collection.
1900, bronze, 45 mm. A German dog-breeding expo medal (third place), 1900.
For my collection of Prussian and German dog medals.
1907, silvered bronze, 60 mm. An "Army, Navy, and Colonial Expo" medal from Prussia.
A nice high-relief portrait of Crown Prince Wilhelm as Protector of the expo, which took place in Berlin.
1913, silver, 37 mm.
An unusual commemorative of the 25th anniversary of the reign of
Wilhelm II as king of Prussia and emperor of Germany ---
a beautiful prooflike AU. This is the first I've seen of the type.

The reverse of the 1907 Expo medal is so rich with symbolism. Notice that the Army and Navy flank Germania, as if supporting and protecting her, while the German Colonies are represented by a kneeling supplicant offering tribute. In reality, the armed forces were as much the slaves of Germania as the colonies --- or at least they would be, for another eleven years or so. Then. . . hellzapoppin'.
