1950's South African Proofs!

I've had a few 1950's proofs from South Africa for a while and was lucky enough to find some more this week in a local shop for about $30 for the lot. For such low mintage issues they really are ridiculously cheap and enjoyable coins.

Nice score! Very interesting coins and you're right, they do seem very cheap!

What I have not been able to figure out is what market is there for individual coins coming out of sets that were marketed as sets? It may not be consistent and it may be rather low, but you have certainly obtained some attractive bits for not a lot of money. Kind of a working corollary to beauty being in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

Anyway, for what its worth I like these British colonial bits done many times by Kruger-Gray or Paget.
