Mint Kennedies getting silly!

What's up with these coins. Take a look at the link. This coin doesn't seem that difficult. Fully 28% of the pop. graded made MS67. Odds are pretty good to make your own I'd say. No disrespect to the seller or buyer, but this seems way high based on the number of coins graded.

    Pat,

Looks like some stiff competition for that piece. Several fellow Registrant's in the bidding as well. Good luck,

    Braddick,

What gives, are they that hard in 67, or is it the eye appeal? I'm just curious.

The prices on Ebay now are cheap compared to what Barlow is asking for a MS67 Kennedy. I was buying a few MS67's here and there, but the price has got ridiculous IMO on the MS67's, much less MS68's. I won't pay that much for these coins, there are too many out there in mint sets still to justify the price for me.

The Kennedy series right now, is exactly what that Coinage article was referring to...madness! And I love Kennedies! Pat, just don't reveal what I paid for that Lincoln of yours the other day! image

  • This set is getting HOT again and just when I discover it. I have a full set Raw but decided to get a set in PCGS 66 no problem I thought. I got a few of mine off E-bay for less then 15.00 great I thought this will be a snap. will in the last month I have not seen any under 25.00 and they just keep going up I had my eye on the 98P in 66 that ended today last night it was less then ten today its over 35.00. I do want to thank a member on this board that is sending me a nice group of 11 ( all are 66's ) and cain't wait to get them from the Post office on monday. The other coin I have not seen much of is the 2001 D Sac in PCGS 66 I do need one.

  • Braddick,

I went to a small-medium size show in Biloxi last weekend and bought about 30 different clad Washington quarters and a couple Kennedy halves that are no doubt MS67's and plan on sending them in as soon as I can pay for the submission. I know in the group of Kennedy's I bought, the 76-S should go 68 hopefully(made a 67 last submission), an 88-D, 85-P, and a 93-P that should go 67, and a couple 1966 and 1967's that should go MS66. I wasn't questioning how tough it can be to find some of the Kennedy halves in high grade(especially from the mid-80's to 1998), I was commenting on the 5 and 6 fold price increases the set has jumped in a PCGS MS67 holder and I am just unwilling to pay $170 and up for one of these coins. There is a certain dealer that I was buying PCGS MS67 Kennedy halves from 4-5 months ago for $50-70 each for most dates(not the tough ones in MS67 mind you) and it seems like right around this time Barlow increased his prices overnight it seemed like. I bought a beautiful end roll toned 1964 PCGS MS66 Kennedy from him one week for $65, and the next price list that he came out with, any toned 1964 PCGS MS66 was $150 and up.

    Dan,

    I just listed a group of 10 PCGS Sac's today on ebay including a 01-D 67, , 2 2001P MS67's, 5 2001D MS66's, 1 2001P MS66, and 1 2001d MS65. I set the buy it now at $125. Slabbing was $100.
    See the link.

New Thread... I can't believe what that 1998-P sold for... I'm still scratching my head in disbelief...
