1990 Pro Set football error values

Hey guys,

I don't have the most recent beckett, (maybe the annual one), for football pricing.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a scan or post the pricing of all the errors/variations in the 1990 Proset football card set.

I am really looking for everything (error/variation) from 89-92 proset football if anyone can help.

Post, PM , or email richtree@gmail.com

Sorry for being a pain -- thanks for any help in advance.

  • If you search this forum Pro Set you will find a list of all the recognized 1990 variations. I still think I found one on the Steve Young, which the search will also show. I was saving all my 1990 Pro Sets and the variation appears pretty close to 50/50. Now figure Pro Set made what 3-4 million of each card maybe? That would take several dozen of printing plates.

  • Hey Rich,

Not all of the variations are noted in the price guides. More importantly, they aren't usually priced accurately. 1990 Charles Haley ERR, Dan Hampton ERR are listed at $5-10 yet you'd be lucky to get $1-2 for the much rarer, corrected versions of those two. Hopefully you saw what the Manley and Marion errors went for which is a pretty fair indicator of their true value.

Also, it's worth mentioning that in 1990 Pro Set, some of the corrections are extremely tough to find: The corrected Art Shell is a good example. I have opened boxes that included rarities such as the Mike Ditka with LARGE HOF print on front only to pull a common, small HOF print version a few packs later. The 1990 boxes available today are almost all "mid-run" which usually have the least valuable of the the versions. It's the very early and very late boxes that include the tougher ones...usually. The same goes for 1991.

  • Another 1990 Pro Set variation that's extremely difficult to find:

#59 Mike Ditka with LARGE "Hall of Fame" lettering in banner.

Art Shell has the same variation as well, which is pretty hard to find but nowhere as tough as the Ditka card.
