Here's the 2 1/2 I just got back... the grade wasn't important or expected.

I think I've had this coin for about 35 years or so. It was given to me as a young boy who was avidly filling his whitman's and accumulating mint and proof sets from the mint. It didn't see the light of day for at least 3 decades. When I became active again about 3 years ago I dug out all my old stuff and this coin was part of my original submission to PCGS. The coin came back in a BB as cleaned. As I learned more I was ok with their decision. Anyway recently I had a submission about to expire so I figured I'd resubmit the coin figuring it would come back slabbed as "genuine". Since it is one I'll never sell I just wanted it in a slab, since it's easier to show and handle. Well, this time it came back as an AU50. That was a surprise for me as I didn't expect it. I don't know what it's "real" grade is and for me it really doesn't matter. I just like looking at it, realizing it has been with me almost my whole life.

    Nice coin and congrats on the grade. I too have a 2.5 indian my mother gave me as a child. Its in an old ANACS slab, I won't sell it either.

    Great piece and the memories are the best and most treasured part of the coin for me, as I sure they are for you as well.
    If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

    Looks like a legitimate AU-50. I don't know why it body-bagged the first time around. Of course, I'm not very good at grading these difficult-to-grade pieces, especially from a photo.image

    I've only got one, in about the same grade as yours. I love my little Indian and think the obverse is the most beautiful design of all U.S. coins.

    Congrats on getting it in a PCGS AU50. Looks warranted to me...

    Instead of bodybagging it they may have "net" graded it to 50 for the light hairlines. Looks like 55 details. Still a nice looking coin, and a nice photo.

    When I was kid I always loved that little gold coin. A couple of years ago I picked up a raw one off the Harlan Berk website just to have one.
    It was sold to me as an AU50 and is now resides PCGS AU58 holder.

    It's the only gold I have that I can't bear to stick in a my sdb.
    These are gorgeous works of art.
