Autograph Baseballs Fading.... question

I have some autograph baseballs on display on a shelf. They have not started fading. My question is... is it the sunlight only or is it also the air/temp that make an autograph fade? If it is the sunlight only, I was thinking of hanging a thick piece of black cloth over the shelving section that has the autographs. I'm thinking this could keep the sunlight off of them, but the air/temp would still get to them. I live in SoCal so the air/temp is not that bad of a problem. I love my autographs and I love to display them to family & friends, but maybe not 27/7.

Doesn't say much for the education system there, does it? I thought everyone knew there was only 25 hours in a day.

Ok, back to seriousness...how do OMBs signed with Sharpies hold up over time? I had Dennis Martinez sign a ball and threw him my pen, but he went ahead and used the Sharpie someone else had given him. UGH.

I mentioned in my post above, an autograph in blue-sharpie I got 20 years ago on a ball has faded into a blue cloud.

to "sweat" from humidity so dont leave them in humid areas. UV protected holders is the best way to prtect them . Also , balls
signed in sharpie are going to run and fade over time so not much you can do .
I also would not leave them in an area that has a lot of artificial light shining on them.
Always looking for Chipper Jones cards.
Im a very focused collector of cards from 1909 - 2012...LOL
