    Somebody was downright mean to that coin, I hope they suffer some for that.
    Nice coin despite the notches and scratches. Makes me wish I had $300.

    There must have been something symbolic in notching the rims like that.
    I have a large cent that was also notched that way.

    Judging by the amount wear on the notches, etc, I'm sure it occurred not long after the time of issue, when it was just 'a cent' to someone with idle hands. On the bright side, if there is one, w/o these defects, it'd be in a holder and probably priced quite a bit higher.
