Paypal buyer credit slashed..!!!!

OK, so I realize times are tough and I decided to pay off all of my smaller credit cards first. I pay all of my Paypal buyer credit except for 100 bux. Then, within the week or so I buy something on Ebay and decide to use my Paypal credit until my paycheck comes in, and POOOF!!!!!!

I have no credit available, they lowered my limit to the amount that I owe.

I don't understand why they would do this, as I have a good credit score and make decent money, and have never been late on payments. I realize that alot of credit agencies have been doing things similar but to take it all away makes zero sense.

So, I click the link to request an increase and it immediate says, "we cannot increase your limit at this time, you will recieve a letter letting you know why our decision was made".

So, if someone like me that pays timely, and makes more money than the average American is not allowed any Paypal credit, who is ?

Did this happen to any of you guys lately?

thx

Maybe they did it for everyone and they are phasing it out?

  • Just for fun, I have occasionally hit the "increase your limit" button and have always received that same standard reply from paypal. However, and quite to my surprise, my limit was increased a few days ago. I, too, have a running balance, but have never missed a payment, and I have good credit. Don't know why this happened to you--it sure seems like a typographical error.

    Hi Rich,

Did you by chance go over your PayPal Buyer Credit limit at any time recently?

How long has it been since you ran a Credit Report?

Did you recently make any big purchases, like a house or car?

    Hi Rich,

Maybe a GE Money Bank rep can give you a little more insight .... 1-866-300-6432.

I just tried to get an increase and here's the message I received:

    Increase Credit Limit

We are pleased to offer you the following New Credit Line :

    New Credit Limit: $10000
New Cash Advance Limit : $200

Please Click the Submit Request Button to accept the New Credit Line.

Please be advised that we will not consider your request submitted until you click the "Submit Request" button.

Well, I really didn't want an increase, but at least we know that they are issuing them.

    thanks poppa J ...

I need to get to the bottom of this ... the funny thing too is that I just paid off 3000 in credit card bills over the last 3 months , so if anything I should have better credit now....lol

I think it is all credit issuers who are following the "lower your limit and screw your debt to available credit ratio" motto. In these economic times creditors are worried about people maxing cards out and not paying.

if I wanted to check and monitor my credit score and rating, what would be the best way to do so?

ok, I think I just figured out what happened...

My fantasy football league was trying to charge my credit card automatic payments to a card that had the available credit line reduced to only 1 dollar above the balance on that card.

Since no funds were available their system automaticly tries to run the card every week or 2.

I went ahead and paid that account. Could that have negatively affected my credit?

If so, what should I do?

    thanks in advance..

You might want to check to see what's on your credit reports:Free Credit Reports

PayPal Buyer Credit is definitely affected by an over-the-limit charge .... even if it's only a dollar!

You might want to apply for a PayPal Plus Credit Card instead of the PayPal Buyer Credit.

Banks are evil. How dare you pay off your loan early. Dont you realize that you are hurting their business by paying loans off to where they cant charge you additional fees and interests? No wonder they needed almost a trillion bux to continue.
