In terms of coinage and acceptability as an investment medium, Palladium is where Platinum was about 15 years ago. I think it's breaking the ice, and it is gaining liquidity as more coins are produced. That's a good thing. Quantity helps bring down the premiums, and that's really the main barrier in the way of making Palladium into another good way to diversify without leaving the pm complex.

I see Palladium as a hedge against volatility in Platinum prices. I actually see some potential in Palladium, for a variety of reasons, and I don't see Palladium and Platinum prices acting the same way because they are in fact different animals, although somewhat related.

I'd probably buy a Rhodium coin or two if I could get my hands on such a thing.

    Rhodium from The Cohen Mint

They want $2,600/oz. for their coin, while spot rhodium is at $1,500/oz. That's about 74% markup. That's twice as bad as the US Mint, which is pretty bad.

I dealt with them on a small item about a year ago, and was not impressed with the way that they do business. They can go pound sand. Besides, even rhodium coins produced by a legitimate mint would take awhile to become commonplace enough for premiums to be reasonable. Overcoming a 74% premium on just the "buy" side is a steep hill to climb. There is no way to know what kind of discount you'd be hit with when you tried to sell a 1 gram rhodium coin. You'd almost have to get $10,000/oz. rhodium again to make it interesting, which is probably an outside shot at best.
