Ebay... Good grief.

I just don't know anymore. Is ebay trying to kill every little guy out there? I just got an auction cancelled and a warning that I am in violation of trademark infringement and ebay is considering whether to suspend my account. And what was my criminally heinous violation? I tried to sell a large lot (350 cards) of 1979-80 OPC hockey cards in VG-Vg/Ex condition and ONE of the cards was Gretzky. I am told that I can't sell my Gretzky without it being graded. Well, it would grade between a 2 and a 3.5. I didn't see the need to get it graded. I was hoping to get around $100 for the auction. Do they not see that it is clearly not a counterfeit? Meanwhile, I see cards up all the time with every tom, dick, and harry grading company on their site. Maybe I should make up my own grading company and use that as my authenticity. Or maybe I should just tell ebay to stick it. Sheesh....
Oh, and by the way... where did I get my ungraded Gretzky? Ebay.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Interesting...one of my "favorite" categories--tobacco cards always had around 9,000 to 10,000 auctions running per any given week. now it is down to around 6,000 per week.
If you can get ONE card to list, you will then find:
1. Each modification to the listing is considered a "new listing,"
for purposes of determining how many you can list within each
30-day period.
2. The number you may list in each 30-day period will be limited
to an unstated maximum, which max will not be revealed to you
UNTIL AFTER you have exceeded it.
<< <i>you got to be kidding me. Ebay SUCKS. >>
WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
.. But seriously, I really do.
Sorry about your hassle dry water guy, I hope ebay gets things right someday.
ebay i.d. clydecoolidge - Lots of vintage stars and HOFers, raw, condition fully disclosed.
<< <i>I don't understand? You can list a Raw Wayne Gretzky on ebay? But you can list Raw Commons? >>
He listed a LOT of cards which included a Gretzky. Since ebay's policy is to not allow Raw Gretzky RC's (Along with 52 Mantle/ 86-87 Jordans too I believe), the whole lot was taken down. Basically, its ebay's way of avoiding pursuing the criminals by screwing the law abiders.
<< <i>For some real fun, try listing a big stack of "TOPPS Tiffany" cards.

Storm, if I'm following your post correctly, how do the big "SET BREAK" guys get away with listing hundreds (and thousands) of cards from same set each month?

My little tale was about "TIFFANY" cards only.
The word "tiffany" is a limiting word; some new
sellers cannot even list one.
Large sellers that have special relations with EBAY
can likely list all the "tiffany" cards they want to.
(I do not know that to be a fact.)
I got tired of fighting with them last year, after they
told me how "lucky" I was to be able to list 10 per
month. I gave up.
Each revision - no matter how small - counts as a "new" listing.
That means if I have 5 cards in a 30-day listing - store or
core - and do a markdown on those five, my "limit" has been
reached.

I have had similar problems listing certain 90's Pinnacle/Zenith insert cards.
Until another entity can replace ebay, they are the ONLY show in town. I don't like it all and the
fees are also out of sight.
I don't know how full timers do it now on ebay.

You're right - I can take it or leave it, but if ya wanna be a "player" then ya gotta take it and it's not really debatable...yes, ebay is a pain in the arse, and it's getting worse, but in my opinion it's still the only game in town that's worthwhile...so I bend over and get paddled and say "thank you ebay sir may I have another"
