New scanner: comparisons, re-holder and 1 upgrade (w/20 scans)

Upgraded the old scanner to an Epson Perfection v500, very pleased with the quality. Here's some before and afters, plus a re-holder and the one upgrade among my comp gradings from my renewal at the National.

Here's the re-holder (good riddance to the baggie)

And here's the upgrade, bought this card raw from my favorite shop years ago...

<< <i>Why did the flips on the 57 Brooks, and 57 Drysdale get changed? >>
They were both re-holdered (scratched, scuffed slabs) in a previous unsuccessful review submission.

<< <i>Why do the 2 pics of the 70 Aarons look different? The border on the left pic looks like it has graph paper or something and it is not on the pic on the right??? Anyone else seeing this or am I losing my mind??? LOL >>
If you look carefully you will see the graph paper pattern on most pf the cards on the left. I think that is an indicator of a lesser quality scanner.
Great cards and definitely, great looking scans on the right...

Nick,
I wondered the same thing, why on a reholder would psa change the flip?

I too use an Espon V500 and love it.
In the past I use to always use HP scanners and still would
recommend them to others, but my last HP unit started leaving
streaks on the scans after having it in use for only 18 months of
moderate use. I bought that scanner for $75. You get what you pay for.....cheap model that made great scans for a short period of time.
I upgraded to the better, sturdier model, the Epson V500.
I spent a little more than on my last HP model, but as
you can see from Paleocards scans above, it's well worth it.
I didn't care for the complicated post scan editing software on
the Epson, so I still use my old HP software for that function.
It's more straight forward and much easier to use.
