Would you ever ship a Hi value card with only delivery confirmation?

I certainly would not, but i did receive a card from a power seller (3000)+ transactions with only DC (bubble mailer)..................to say i was shocked was an understatement. Generally, i insure anything over $50, certainly over $100. Anyone else experience this?

I do not know how he shipped it, but something to think about is that if it was shipped via stamps.com you would not know if he added insurance or not.

The question is, what do you consider high value? If it was over $250 and through PayPal, then Signature Confirmation should've been used. Many would not consider anything less that $1000 to be high value while others might consider anything over $50 to be high value. The question is really predicated upon one's point of reference.
  • The way Ebay has become anything over 15.00 goes with DC, anything over 100 insurance. 250 and over insurance + signature.

I could be wrong, but I believe that just like the stamps.com labels, the paypal labels do not show if insurance was taken or not.

It does show insured near the top even if you do not want the abount insured to be shown on the label, i was just shocked a seller would not send insured or registered.

1,000 card would go registered from me. period.
  • The bigger question is -- as a buyer , do I really care how the item is sent to me, and the answer is no, as long as I receive it in good condition.

What if you paid $12.90 for shipping?

Not unless I wanted to give it away FREE to the "buyer."

    ........

I prefer insured Express Mail to Registered Mail.

    RM takes too long.

If I paid the $12.90 for the shipping, and it said on the auction that I paid $12.90, then so be it. I'm not going to complain for this transaction, but I would make a mental note.

I have heard no one complaining about anything, except you about how I received the card. There has been no complaining, just sharing a suprising situation. Mental note made.

Of course you're complaining. (Emphasis added on the bold in the original quote). You wouldn't bring the issue up if you weren't complaining. If being shocked isn't complaning, then what is?

I am not getting into a pi$$ing contest with you, sharing a suprising experience is NOT complaining. I feel certain shocking and complaining have to different meanings. Reasearch it and get back to us.

I use delivery conformation for anything valued below $500, over $500 I use signature conformation.

PayPal requires SigCon on items over $250.00.

Well, let's put it this way.

    1. The transaction pertains to you, and not someone else.
    2. You seem to have had an expectation that you expected more than just delivery confirmation.
    3. If I made the same comment as you, then I would consider it to be a complaint more than just a casual observation.

What did the item description have to say about insurance coverage on the delivery? If the terms of the sale said that the shipment was insured then your seller is responsible no matter how he chooses to ship. He could self insure, carry a shipping insurance policy, or buy colored labels from the PO, it's all insured as far as loss to you is concerned. Many sellers carry a policy where they're covered for shipments. The package won't have colorful stickers but it will still be insured.

Out of curiosity, what would worry you by sending a $1000 card via priority, insured and w/sig conf?

Not much, but Express keeps the item in the system for
less time; fewer chances for loss/damage.

RM is just tooooooo slow for EBAY stuff.

Agreed, most eBay buyers don't have patience, and IMO this is an invitation for low DSR ratings
