Craigslist Cards - Ripoff or the Read Deal!?!?!?!?

I have a quick question...someone on Ebay told me how cheap they got a card (Not SUPER cheap, but a good deal below VCP......I asked him where he got the card..He said CRAIGSLIST!! I wanted to cringe because it was my assumption that the majority of PSA graded cards on Craigslist are fakes.....any thoughts or idea on this?

Tough to comment without seeing a scan of the card.

There are crooks on Ebay, but not everyone on Ebay is a crook.

Same goes for Craigslist, but the percentage of crooks might be a little higher.

Anyways, I have a run of 80s Football sets that I thought about putting on Craigslist. I figured it'd be easier to have someone come pick them up than try to package them all up for shipping.

My biggest issue with Craigslist--after the worry about getting ripped off--is the hey, here's my HOME address, come on by and buy stuff. I abhor the idea of basically telling people what kind of stuff I collect and have in my home, and then giving them directions on where to find it.

Sure, you can always meet at a mutually decided location, which I would strongly suggest. Like outside a Sheriff's office. image

Are we talking an '83 Boggs PSA 9, or a '56 Mantle PSA 8?

The Craigslist fake flips have all been on high dollar cards.

compare the bar code to these, if it's the same then it's probably not good news

NOT a good idea to buy graded collectibles on CL.

IF you can go see the merch and pickup in person,
it is safer. (Some of the fake CL-merch stories seem
to indicate that all but the CLOSEST inspections
    could/would be inadequate.)

    .......

I bought some stuff on CL this morning. (Not collectibles.)
Went to see the guy, he had what I needed cheap, and
    we did the deal. Easy.

The item in question was a 1950 Bowman Jackie Robinson mid grade.....not an overly high dollar card, but an easy $300-$400
  • Craiglist is all about meeting in person, in daylight, in front of the police station. Inspect it in person!

PSA should put a hologram logo (like they used to have on the back) on the front of the flip.
