Just Wanted to Say -- Thank you to this Board

Good Afternoon All,

I am sitting here at work and I am messaging back and forth with a few memebers and I just realized that w/o this board I would have never collected another baseball card again. I am sure that is true for many members here. I had a few things that I wanted to sell and was ready to give up collecting because the one thing I truly enjoyed about it (error cards) was considered dead. Instead, when I found the board after my first PSA sub, I have found other collectors that rejuvenated my collection. Donovan, JC, Slanty, AUPT (Bob),viking7, gecko109 (thanks for free card!), zep33, and recently cincykid75 all actually care about errors/variations. Sorry if I left anyone out!

Now, I feel like all the corner baseball card stores in my neighborhood that closed down are re-opened! Besides the error collectors there are so many great memebers here. I recently had a old friend stop by my house and was in awe by my collection. Sometimes we forget that the rest of the world (non-collectors) have no idea the time and effort that is put in to our collection.

Now I buy and sell everyday and my error collection is better than ever. Sometimes I wonder how I could get through my workday without the disstraction of and ebay auction or a CU Timeout.

Anyway, it was a slow day around here and just wanted to say thank you for getting me back involved with something that I swept under the rug for about 7 years. I still dread the day I moved from my college door and took most of my cards out of top loaders and into monster boxes to save space.

I pray the economy turns around for everyone in the near future and there are many more years of collecting ahead.

thanks again to everyone here at the CU board and may all your subs be PSA 10's.

-rich

The hot dog playing the drums is almost as cool as the cat with the lime helmet.

  • Since '87 I've collected but never 'had a team' or any certain specific interest. I would collect something then get bored and sell it all. Well, I still do buy stuff and get bored and sell it but I have found my niche and couldn't be happier.

Glad you found some collectors to network with that helped rejuvenate your interest. Happy to have helped.

    Happy Hunting,
    Donovan

  • Is this a Kumbaya thread? I guess we all kind of need it after the bs that has been going on recently.

I haven't met anyone from this board in person (other than the poster who's on my softball team) but have experienced over the top generosity from Felicia!! So for that I will say thank you Felicia and thank you board.
  • Honestly all I have ever contributed to these boards is a hot dog playing the drums. Sorry & THANKS!
  • Alright, so Barfvader's miscut collecting is the "foot fetish" of card collecting. I'll say error card collecting is the "gams fetish" of card collecting. While acceptable, you really should be concerned with things more to the north. image

I'm just kidding around. It's great that you got back into collecting, especially in large part because of these boards. I think the people here (well the majority anyway) are some of the most helpful and honest folks I've ever dealt with over the internet, and there's always fun to be had here relating to cards and collecting. So welcome back!!!

I can certainly attest to the quality of Rich's collection. He sent in 20 cards for the group submission - all 89 UD Dale Murphy RevNeg's! I wish I still had some of my beckett price guides from the early 90's laying around. That card was smoldering to say the least...and to have 20 of them in gradable quality, that's respectable.
