Lionel collectors

This has gone over what I would pay, but perhaps some of you are interested. Coin/Mint related Lionel cars are very rare.

  • And I thought coin collecting was a fairly expensive hobby! Glad I'm not into scale model trains, though as a kid at heart, I can see the fun in it.
  • That brings back memories! I was big into HO scale slot cars. An acquaintance had the most magnificent train set with a fully landscaped model town, crossings, lights and everything! It was very ambitious. Just a few years ago I visited a friend of a friend with a very large train track in his back yard. Big enough that toddlers would take rides on it! It had a pool, suspension bridge and so on. Also very ambitious! I could get into trains, especially if I had a large basement and lived where there were long, cold winters.
  • Good deal if the bullion is real.

I've got a couple of Ft Knox bullion cars. Neat stuff. I grew up just a couple miles from Lionel ( at least where they used to be ) and almost every year for a number of years my Parents bought my Brother and I a new set of Lionels to put under the tree. I have 6 sets from then, all pre-1963 going back into the 50's. In fact they are still in these boxes, with each car individually wrapped in a newspaper from 1969, when I put them away.

    One of these days.....
