Let's just hope that you don't leave that setup unoccupied with a small child or cat in the house or your next post will be "I have gotten good at starting fires."
Back to topic: Those are stellar pictures. Some of the best I've seen in quite some time. The way you got the VDB to raise off the coin was really well done and the best VDB shot I've seen ever!

Those bulbs are compact flourescent. I could lay them all on hay or flammable cotton all night long and they wouldnt get hot enough to start a fire.
And yes.....I know its a cent. But, I just wanted to say "penny" to sound more aw-shucks-ish!

Nice shot. Looks like you have a good lens. I think maybe your white balance is a little off and your exposure slightly too long (see the white spots in the coin from the reflection?).
It is a lot of trial and error and running back and forth to your computer with your memory card before you can feel like you have the shot you want. Took me about 30 pics to get the one in this thread just right.
That's the part I always struggle with. How to capture the luster without getting harsh reflections. I am using a Nikon Coolpix 5700 with 2 75W incandecent bulbs. I believe the camera has 3 white balance settings. Auto, Incandecent and Flourecent. Is there away to manually adjust white balance?

I am not familiar with your camera. Mine lets me shoot a white card using the lighting I am using and then automatically sets my white balance based on the data it obtains from that shot. Your lighting it fine, you can just shorten your exposure to make those go away. Or you can reduce your light and make the exposure longer.
