I like the clashing. Although fairly common on trimes, I don't recall seeing one as dramatic as that. I will call it a 64, altough it is tough to tell from the photo.

I dig it, very nice looking coin.

Hard to tell from the photo, but what is going on near-through the 61. From the pic it looks like a die crack coming up from the rim, then a hit on the 1.

I'm thinking 65. 66 but there is a tiny spot on reverse. all there with pretty nice luster. you have to look carefully to distinguish clash from hit. that's pretty major clash!

That is one cool trime! Very well struck, too. I'm guessing 65, but I don't think 66 is out of the question.

Funny you should post this. This was the series I focused on for a while.
I found myself perusing websites looking at trimes today!

    Great coin by the way.

I like the coin, but from pictures, I won't say over PCGS 58. It puzzles me how many CU members think they can grade a MS coin from pictures.

Care to elaborate why you say only 58 from the same pictures?

    I say it's an MS66.

Excellent, I'll go 64 on that. I have an AU50 1861 with awesome clasing as well.

My guess is 65. I like it a lot.

I used to collect 3CS...my first collector coin back in '59, in fact. But my eyes went south and I now I opt for bigger coins. I'm such a loser.

Sure, it looks MS from the pictures, but I simply do not believe in grading MS coins from pictures.
