If the ANA is to endorse a TPG...

If the ANA is to endorse a TPG, it should insist that that TPG image all coins exceeding some specified value. IMHO, imaging will play a critical part in the war against the counterfeiters, and the ANA may be in a position to make it happen.

BTW, I'm not a big fan of the ANA endorsing TPGs, but I can easily live with it if it helps beat back the counterfeiters.

The ANA endorsed NGC and I think they are imaging coins over $100 in value.

The ANA endorsed TPG, which is NGC, images every coin that is graded regardless of value.

Does NGC pay the A.N.A for the right of this endorsement? MJ

OK, so is PCGS also imaging all of their coins?

Yes. PCGS also bid but NGC outbid them.

Correct. DGS was the first grading service to perform this service. NGC soon copied DGS and PCGS has yet to see the light and join the others.

  • I believe NGC is also the official grading service of the PNG.

Even "modern crap"? Seriously, why image UHRs? But if they're imaging all of the right stuff, that's great!
